MASA will reimburse eligible out-of-pocket expenses incurred by ground ambulance transportation services resulting from a serious emergency to the nearest and most appropriate medical facility or suitable airport.
MASA will reimburse eligible out-of-pocket expenses associated with emergent fixed-wing and rotary aircraft transport. All flights must be ordered by a first responder or transferring physician who deems air transport as medically necessary.
MASA will reimburse eligible out-of-pocket expenses associated with physician-ordered hospital-to-hospital ground or air ambulance transportation in cases where a specialized level of care is not available at their current facility.
MASA will help coordinate and provide support for eligible expenses associated with a ground or air ambulance to transport to a medical facility near home to recuperate closer to family and in familiar surroundings if hospitalized more than 100 miles away from home.
MASA will help coordinate and provide support for a commercial flight back to the member’s residence once discharged from the hospital following an emergency occurring 100 miles away from home.
MASA will reimburse the eligible out-of-pocket expenses incurred from having a companion accompany a member in an emergency transportation vehicle.
MASA will help coordinate and provide support for a round-trip ticket of a visitor of the member’s choice to be by their side when an emergency occurs more than 100 miles from home.
MASA will provide informational support and reimburse eligible expenses for a one-way common carrier air transport for the return of a minor (below the age of 18) to the commercial airport nearest their residence if left unattended due to an ambulance transport while more than 100 miles away from home.
MASA will reimburse the eligible out-of-pocket expenses associated with the transportation of an organ to be retrieved and used for a member’s organ transplant.
MASA will help coordinate and provide support for the eligible out-of-pocket expenses associated with the air transportation expenses for a member to fly to the commercial airport nearest the medical facility for a scheduled organ transplant.
MASA will help coordinate and provide support for the return of owned vehicles to a member’s residence or rental vehicles to the appropriate company if a member is taken away from a vehicle or RV as a result of emergency transportation. Support includes the costs of fuel, oil, and qualified driver.
MASA will provide informational support and reimburse the eligible expenses incurred for the transportation of a member’s mortal remains back to their area of residence via air, ground, or ferry, in the event member passes away while more than 100 miles away from home.
MASA will provide informational support and reimburse eligible expenses for the return of a pet(s) if left as a result of an ambulance transport while more than 100 miles away from home.
MASA’s professional advisors will help verify policy enrollment, confirm medical benefits coverage, provide guidance on medical expenses due, and more for medical bills resulting from an inpatient medical stay.
MASA will reimburse eligible expenses up to $500 for non-emergency ground transportation to and between the medical facility, rehabilitation facility, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, hospice facility, or back home to attain continued care resulting from an emergency.
MASA will reimburse eligible expenses for incidentals incurred if a member is hospitalized over 100 miles from home for an extended period of 7 days or more (including hotels, food, transportation, and more). (Limited to two reimbursements per consecutive 12-month period beginning from plan effective date.)
MASA will provide support for all Emergency Shield plan benefits (excluding Emergency Air Ambulance Coverage and Hospital to Hospital Ambulance Coverage) for a member’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren up to the age of 14.
Dependent: For lifetime membership plans only, in the event that a Grandchild and/or Great Grandchild is (i) under the age of twenty-six (26) years old, (ii) in the temporary custody of the Member, and (iii) more than one hundred (100) miles from the Member’s residence, then the Grandchild and/or Great Grandchild will be considered a Dependent, receiving full services as a member.
If hospitalized more than 100 miles from home, MASA will help coordinate and provide support for the eligible expenses associated with return transportation for a companion from the inpatient hospitalization location back to their home.
