Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection
When a serious medical emergency happens abroad — especially on the water — finding fast, appropriate care can be more complicated than expected. Whether you’re exploring a remote coastline or spending time on the water far from home, traditional emergency ground access may not be available. That’s where Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection comes in. It’s one of the many valuable protections offered with certain MASA plans.
What is Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection?
Our Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection reimburses members up to $5,000 in out-of-pocket expenses when emergency transport by a water ambulance or watercraft is deemed medically necessary due to a serious emergency occurring outside of the United States. The watercraft must be equipped with trained first responder personnel capable of providing emergency stabilization and care during transport.
This benefit applies to medically necessary emergency water transport during a trip outside of the United States and is limited to one reimbursement per consecutive 12-month period, beginning on your plan’s effective date.
Why do I need Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection?
Medical emergencies abroad can be overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Emergency water transport is highly specialized, often requires dedicated medical crews and equipment, and may come with significantly higher costs in international locations. Many traditional health insurance plans offer limited or no coverage for emergency transport outside the U.S., leaving visitors abroad exposed to unexpected bills at the worst possible time.
Our Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection helps reduce that financial burden by supporting the cost of medically necessary water transport during an international emergency, giving you added confidence and peace of mind when abroad.
Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection in action
Imagine you’re on a trip abroad and snorkeling off the coast when you suddenly develop severe breathing difficulty and disorientation after surfacing — signs of a possible diving-related emergency. You’re far from shore, unfamiliar with local emergency services, and ground transport isn’t accessible from your location.
A water ambulance staffed with trained emergency medical personnel is dispatched as the fastest and safest way to get you help. During transport, the medical team provides oxygen, stabilizes your condition, and continuously monitors your vital signs while navigating directly to the nearest hospital.
Later, you receive a large bill for the medically necessary services provided during your emergency transport, an unexpected cost while navigating medical care in another country. With our Worldwide Emergency Water Ambulance Transport Protection, you’re reimbursed for up to $5,000 in out-of-pocket expenses, helping reduce the financial strain and allowing you to focus on recovery rather than expenses.
